Different livability factors have either been deemed positive for livability, such a drinking fountains, or negative for liveability, such as a higher number of car crashes. We have then weighted the different factors based on their influence.

About The Index

How is the index calculated?
Livability Factors

So far the index has incorporated median household income, number of schools, population, public toilets, BBQ facilities,  drinking fountain locations, public toilets, police station locations, traffic offences locations, fitness sites, art facility locations, speed camera locations and cyclist accidents.

We would like to incorporate more data sets, and more liveability factors into the index to create a better picture of suburbs in the ACT.

Our Vision

Our vision is that people can better understand the suburbs around them. Policy makers can improve their understanding of what changes they could make to liveability through using data.  We hope that people new to a suburb, or those looking to move, and those who live in the suburb can better understand the environment around them. With improved capability, users will also be able to find specific locations of amenities and hazards.
